Back in 1980, John Percival graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in geology and decided then to go into business with his parents, Peter & Joyce, who had just moved to Meadow Farm. After a few years of more conventional farming it was suggested by John's Uncle, David Humphreys, to look at starting a Trout Fishery.
After much research into the project and into fly fishing itself (John used to canoe the Rheidol and the Ystwyth rather than fish them. Until now, a closely guarded secret!).

Meadow lake took six months to excavate through the winter of 1983/84 and care was taken to design the lake and its surroundings to make it look as natural as possible -15 years on you would think it has been there for centuries. Two thousand trees and shrubs were planted in the surrounding land providing a habitat for a diverse range of Wildlife. Eventually Meadow Fishery opened in the April of 1984 - one 5 acre lake and no shop.
