One of the benefits of building a fishery is that it attracts
wildlife to the area, something that we both enjoy and encourage.

Swans, Great Crested Grebes, Dabchicks, Canada Geese, various species of ducks together with Moorhens and Coots have all made Meadow Fishery their home. Even bats find the fishery a boon, as can be seen on a summers evening as they feed on the hatched insects above the lakes.

The Wildlife and the anglers coexist quite happily together on the fishery (except for the odd nervous fisherman around the swans!) and most of the birdlife is quite blasè about these humans intruding into their home during the daylight hours.

And the noisiest member…

Birdie

About two years ago a fisherman caught something other than a fish, a cockatiel flew into Willow Lake. He spent two days in a cat box but now resides in a large cage in the office. Known as Blake, (after a Blakestone Buzzer, I know very sad!!) but sometimes affectionately called "Shutup Bird". He now sits and looks at everybody who walks through the shop door.
