Back in 1980, John Percival graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in geology and decided then to go into business with his parents, Peter & Joyce, who had just moved to Meadow Farm. After a few years of more conventional farming it was suggested by John's Uncle, David Humphreys, to look at starting a Trout Fishery. After much research into the project and into fly fishing itself (John used to canoe the Rheidol and the Ystwyth rather than fish them. Until now, a closely guarded secret!).
Meadow lake took six months to excavate through the winter of 1983/84 and care was taken to design the lake and its surroundings to make it look as natural as possible. 25 years on you would think it has been there for centuries. Two thousand trees and shrubs were planted in the surrounding land providing a habitat for a diverse range of Wildlife. Eventually Meadow Fishery opened in the April of 1984 - one 5 acre lake and no shop.
